Single Sign-On (SSO) and password enhancement V2.2 launched

Security and password protection is one of the most important points when it comes to applications on the internet, especially when it comes to software as a service (SaaS).

We have researched various ways to further the security of R18LabQMS® while listening to IT professionals and laboratories that are active users. After much deliberation, we decided to implement Single Sign-On (SSO) technology and further enhance the password requirements when logging into the R18LabQMS application.

SSO

We are happy to announce the launch of V2.2 for R18LabQMS with the implementation of SSO / SAML. Single Sign-On (SSO) allows users to log in with a single ID and password to several related, yet independent, software systems. Only the primary lab manager will be able to activate this feature which, in most cases, might also require the assistance of their IT department to engage in the process.

PLEASE NOTE implementing SSO is completely optional, and if not implemented, nothing changes with your log-in process.

When the SSO option is implemented, adding users will essentially be the same as with new users, and each added user will receive an email from service@r18labqms.com to confirm their account.

We are in the process of updating the user guide that will have detailed instructions for implementation. Please contact us if you would like the SSO SAML document sent to you directly.

Password enhancement

Also, for non-SSO users, we are strengthening the password requirements as follows: new passwords will be 8-70 characters with upper and lower case letters and numbers. You may keep your current password, however, when it is changed, the new password requirements apply.

User question

Q: Can I add technician certification records to my quality manual along with technician training and evaluation records?

A: Yes! This seems to be a common question. Adding technician certification records can easily be done by clicking the evaluations tab along the top, then click technician certifications on the top center. The pop-out page on the right is self-explanatory. When completing either technician training, evaluations, or certifications, all records will be populated in your quality manual in sections 5.5.4, and 5.5.5.
