Last month we discussed section number updates due to the AASHTO R18 change for 2016. This will take place when the 2016 upgrades are completed in December, 2016.
As part of the changes being made, we are cleaning up the quality manual to make it easier to navigate and to eliminate clutter. By doing so, we have eliminated all sections that don’t require a procedure or process, sections that are editorial in nature only, and those that do not affect the contents of the quality manual. This serves a couple of purposes; it encourages the user to reference the R18 standard and prompts users to engage in each section within the quality manual. The only exceptions are sections that automatically populate, i.e. equipment, technician evaluations, etc.
Q: Can I delete a procedure that I didn’t intend to save?
A: Yes. This can be done by going to the procedure history tab, click on a category, equipment, procedure type and then you will see the remove option in red.
Q: I’m looking to get our lab accredited. Where do I start?
A: The answer is not simple, while R18LabQMS is a key part of the process, it is not a ‘turn-key solution’ to gain your accreditation. Accreditation agencies can provide guidance during the accreditation process.
